Guide to Player Shops

Welcome to the heart of the Arcane SMP economy! This guide will teach you how to create your own automated chest shop to sell items to other players (or buy items from them), even when you're offline. Setting up a shop is the best way to earn money from your farms, mining trips, and adventures. What are Player Shops?

A player shop is a simple chest that is magically linked to a sign. This allows any player to walk up, see what you're selling, and buy it from you instantly. The money is automatically transferred to your account. It's a secure and easy way to participate in the server's economy.

How to Create a Shop to SELL Items

This is the most common type of shop. Follow these simple steps to start selling your goods.

1. Place a Chest: Place a single chest on the ground where you want your shop to be.

2. Hold the Item: In your hand, hold one of the items you want to sell.

3. Punch the Chest: While holding the item, left-click (punch) the chest once.

4. Set Your Price: The server will ask you in chat to type the price you want to sell one of that item for. Type your price in the chat and press Enter.

   • Example: If you want to sell one diamond for $100, you would type 100 in the chat.

5. Stock Your Shop: That's it! A sign will appear on your chest, and your shop is now active. All you have to do now is fill the chest with more of that same item. Players can now come and buy from you! The money you earn will be collected automatically.

How to Create a Shop to BUY Items

Want to buy materials in bulk from other players? You can set up a "buying shop" that pays players when they sell their items to you.

1. Create a Selling Shop First: Follow the 5 steps above to create a normal selling shop first.

2. Use the "Buy" Command: While looking at your newly created shop sign, type the command: /qs buy

3. Your Shop is Now a Buying Shop! The sign will change to indicate that you are now buying that item.

   • Important: Make sure your chest is empty, as this is where players will deposit the items they sell to you. You must also have enough money in your account to pay the players who sell to your shop.

To change your shop back to selling mode, simply look at the sign and type /qs sell.

How to Use Other Player's Shops

• To Buy from a Shop: Find a shop selling an item you want. Left-click (punch) the shop's sign to buy one item. To buy a full stack, Shift + Left-click the sign.

• To Sell to a Shop: Find a shop that is buying an item you have. Hold the item in your hand and left-click (punch) the shop's sign to sell one. To sell all matching items from your inventory, Shift + Left-click the sign.

Managing Your Shop

• Check Shop Info: Left-click your shop sign (without holding an item) to see its status, including how much stock is left and how much money it has made.

• Change the Price: Look at your shop sign and type /qs price [NewPrice].

• Restocking: To add more items to your selling shop, simply open the chest and fill it up!

• Collecting Money/Items: Open the chest of your buying shop to collect the items players have sold to you. Money from selling shops is added directly to your balance.

• Remove Your Shop: Break the chest. The sign and the shop will be removed.
