Welcome to Arcane SMP! We're so excited to have you join our community. This guide will walk you through your first steps to ensure you have the best possible start to your new adventure.
Know the Rules! (The Most Important Step)
Before you do anything else, your first command should be /rules. Seriously!
Our goal is to create a fun, fair, and friendly environment for everyone. Understanding the rules is the best way to avoid accidental punishments and helps ensure you and everyone else have a great time. It only takes a minute, and it's the #1 key to success on our server.
Claim Your Starter Kit
Now that you're an expert on the rules, let's get you some gear! We provide a helpful starter kit to every new player to help you survive your first day and night.
Simply type the command:
/kit starter
This will give you some basic tools, food, and other essentials to get you on your feet. You can only claim this kit once, so use it wisely!
Understanding the Arcane SMP Economy (Player-Driven!)
This is one of the most unique things about our server! You may have noticed there is no /shop command to buy things from the server. That's because you, the players, are the economy!
Our server runs on a player-driven economy, which means players trade goods and services with each other. Instead of selling your diamonds to an admin shop, you sell them to another player who needs them. This creates a much more interactive and community-focused experience.
TIPS How to Make Money & Get Items:
Gather Resources: The classic Minecraft loop! Go out and mine, farm, fish, and explore to gather valuable materials.
Find the Player Shops: Players have set up their own shops, many of which are located near spawn. Look for signs, chests, and cool-looking buildings advertising what they sell. This is the best place to find items you need, from building blocks to enchanted gear.
Create Your Own Shop: Once you've gathered some resources, you can become a merchant yourself! Find an open plot (or use a shop-specific plugin if your server has one, e.g., ChestShop) and set up your own business. Sell what you're good at gathering—are you a master farmer? A legendary miner? Sell it!
Barter in Chat: Don't be afraid to use the global chat! You can announce what you're buying or selling. For example:
WTS [Diamonds] x10!(Want to Sell) orWTB [Rockets] x64!(Want to Buy).
Your First Adventure - What to do now?
You've got your kit, you understand the economy, and you're ready to play. So, what's next?
Here are some great ways to dive into the world of Arcane SMP:
Venture Out and Find a Base: Run a few thousand blocks away from spawn to find a nice, quiet spot to build your first home. Remember to use a land-claiming plugin (if available) to protect your creations!
Start the Questline: Arcane SMP features over 1,100 custom quests! This is one of the best ways to explore the world, fight unique monsters, and earn incredible rewards. Check for a Quest Master NPC at spawn or type
/quests.Explore the Resource Worlds: Need materials but don't want to tear up the main world? Use the portals at spawn to travel to our Resource Worlds (Overworld, Nether, and End). These worlds are reset regularly, so you can gather all the resources you need without worry.
Team Up!: The best way to experience SMP is with others. Say hello in chat, ask if anyone wants to go on a mining trip, or invite people to see your new base.
Essential Commands for New Players
Here are a few more commands that will be very helpful on your journey:
/sethome [name]: Sets a teleport point you can return to. A great idea for your base!/home [name]: Teleports you to your saved home./spawn: Takes you back to the server's spawn point./tpa [playername]: Requests to teleport to another player./tpaccept: Accepts a teleport request from another player./msg [playername] [message]: Sends a private message to another player.
